A girl's guide to Movember
November used to be just another month in the calendar, the prelude to the excitement of Christmas. But over the past few years, 1st November may signify the start of an altogether different month for you if you have a boyfriend or husband.
For over the course of November, your significant other may be sporting some novel facial hair, all in the name of Movember; a cause that aims to raise awareness of men's health.
Your usually clean-shaven OH could soon be walking around with a handlebar moustache or just some fine fuzz above his top lip, depending on his growing skills, and you have to put up with it because it's all in the name of charity.
Since relatively humble beginnings back in 2003 in Australia, the Movember community has raised over £346 million to help men affected by prostate cancer, testicular cancer and mental health problems.
But, if a 'tache just isn't your thing, what can you do to make your man's Movember effort a little more bearable?
Firstly, a well-maintained moustache will be more pleasant to touch; make sure your fella conditions his 'tache with normal hair conditioner and remind him to moisturise the skin beneath it too.
Get him to maintain the length with a facial hair trimmer and a small pair of scissors.
And finally, a little moustache wax and a regular comb will keep all the hair in place and prevent any crumbs from hanging around after lunch.
If you fancy getting on board and showing your man some support this Movember, how about treating him to a grooming kit? The Moustache Grooming Kit by Men's Society would make the perfect gift. It contains a tin of 100% natural moustache wax, a handmade comb and a pair of stainless steel scissors to keep those whiskers trimmed.
Whether you're a lover or a hater of the 'tache, the most important thing to remember is that it's all for a good cause. And if you really hate it, by the end of the month they'll hopefully be so sick of it that they'll be running for the razor.
