Black Friday bargains - what to buy
It's the busiest shopping day of the year in the US and now it's causing quite a storm in Britain.
Black Friday is no longer the last working Friday before the Christmas break, but a day in November to pick up some bargains in huge sales.
Originating in America, Black Friday falls the day after US Thanksgiving, and now savvy shoppers in the UK are also enjoying the sales and picking up expensive items at cut-prices in time for Christmas.
Last year we heard reports of fights breaking out over one supermarket's bargain televisions, and hours of queuing to fill up trolleys with discounted goods.
And it's not just the shops jumping on board, online retailers also slash their prices and we even have Cyber Monday for click-ready shoppers.
So where should you be looking for the best deals?
- Amazon offers significant deals on Black Friday, running sales across the site for a whole week. They offer a range of limited-stock deals every hour; pick up cheaper electrical goods such as cameras and laptops as well as toys, clothes and jewellery
- Argos is worth checking out for gadgets; their sale starts at 6am so make sure you set your alarm
- American-owned Asda was one of the first stores to offer Black Friday deals in the UK; thousands of people flocked to their local stores to grab televisions and mobile phones last year, so prepare for a scrum
- Apple - if you've been desperately wanting a piece of Apple hardware, Black Friday could be the day to invest; last year the UK enjoyed better discounts than the US with Apple TVs selling for £85 (normally £99) and the iPad Air going for £368 (saving £31)
This year, Black Friday falls on 28th November and Cyber Monday is 1st December - happy shopping!
